Description

The UC3842 /3/4/5 family of control ICs provides the necessary features to implement off-line or DC to DC fixed frequency current mode control schemes with a minimal external parts  count. Internally implemented circuits include under voltage lock out featuring start-up current less than 1 mA, a precision reference trimmed for accuracy at the erroramp input, logic to insure latched operation, a PWM comparator which also provides current limit control, and a totem pole output stage designed to source or sink high peak current. The output stage, suitable for driving N-Channel MOSFETs, is low in theoff-state.

The UC3842A, UC3843A series of high performance fixed frequency current mode controllers are specifically designed for off-line and dc-to-dc converter applications offering the designer a cost effective solution with minimal external components. These integrated circuits feature a trimmed oscillator for precise duty cycle control, a temperature compensated reference, high gain error amplifier, current sensing comparator, and a high current totem pole output ideally suited for driving a power MOSFET.
